Planetlab as a Global Testbed for Research

The WALSAIP project has been able to setup a two-node infrastructure to form part of the PlanetLab Consortium (http://www.planet-lab.org/) and contribute through collaborative support to the enhancement of the overlay network by means of application specific network services.  A specific example is the network service being developed by the AIP Group for signal analysis in a virtual instrumentation setting to study the integration of sensors and instruments into a grid computing environment with possible web services interfaces. Such a setting will facilitate, in turn, the research on potential overlay networks for signal-based information processing systems. The signal analysis work is concentrating on the multi-parameter estimation of chirp signals which are prevalent in many sensor data acquisition processes and remote sensing applications.
